Fourteen gentlemen in front of the 'PRINTING TENT under the patronage of the MARY-LE-BONE CRICKET CLUB'. Cricketers are identified as: Hunt, Wright, Adams, Mortlock, Lockyer, Wisden, F Lillywhite, John Lllywhite, Dean, Caffyn, Grundy, Martingell, Sherman, Sampson.

Watercolour on paper The United XI of All England John Corbet Anderson c.1855 As well as publishing the Guide to Cricketers, Fred Lillywhite ran the printing tent at Lord’s from 1848 to 1865 and was instrumental in organising the 1859 tour of North America, transporting his printing press with him. Here he is seen behind the counter of his tent, next to sometime business partner and later rival, John Wisden. Gift of Edith Slatter, 1955
