Middlesex Cap belonging to Gubby Allen, circa 1935 Presented to MCC by G O B Allen, 1969 M.69.80 Allen represented Middles between 1921 and 1950, remaining an amateur cricketer throughout; he combined cricket with a role in the London Stock Exchange. In 1929, he took all ten wickets for Middlesex vs Lancashire at Lord’s – despite arranging at the ground 20 minutes late as he had to finish a morning shift at Debenham’s department store.
