Description

Tobacco box said to represent Broadhalfpenny Down, Hambledon with game in progress, c.1810. Sheffield plate, separate lid. Design: engraved to show copper colour beneath; a game of cricket in progress, the players wearing tall hats. An inn in the distance; said to represent Broadhalfpenny Down with the Bat and Ball Inn at Hambledon. Engraved (pricked) on the base, a geometric flower with the initials B.M.M.O.at the four corners. said to be very rare.
