In August 1998 the 100th Women’s Test match took place between England and Australia at Guildford. It was also the first official “Ashes” Test in women’s cricket, following the ceremonial burning of a bat bearing the signatures of both teams at Lord’s the previous month. The series of three Test matches finished 0-0, the bat having dominated. It was therefore the only series following which the Ashes were held by neither side.
