Bat used by Worrell to make 1,640 runs during the Commonwealth Tour of India, 1949-50. Worrell made his Test debut one match after John Goddard, but would have to wait more than twelve years to get his chance as captain. When that chance came he took it with skill and dignity. In 1960 Test cricket was afflicted with disputes over bowling actions, bouncers and slow over rates. The 1960/61 Australia v West Indies series did much to restore the game’s tarnished reputation.
