Australian Women's Team at MCC Museum, 1963 Sport and General Press Agency Ltd The Australian national women cricketers in the MCC Museum at Lord’s Cricket Ground assembled around 'The Ashes' case containing: The Ashes, The Ashes Bag, the design for the bag and the England vs. Australia 1882 scorecard. The 1963 tourists were under the leadership of Captain Mary Allitt and manager Lorna Thomas MBE. This was the first tour of England by an Australian team in 12 years. This team was also the first women’s team (either Australian or English) to be invited by the committee of MCC to dine with members in the famous ‘Long Room’ at Lord’s.
