Sculpture Commission London-based public sculptor Antony Dufort was commissioned by MCC's Arts & Library Committee to sculpt a statue of a bowler to complement Gerald Laing's Batsman figure sculpted in 2001. Both sculptors were briefed not to depict a particular player, but rather to draw inspiration from a range of players. The sculptures can be seen at the corners of the Nursery Ground here at Lord's. 1. Proposed Site for Sculpture of Bowler 2005 By Antony Dufort Commissioned by MCC Sketches showing the proposed site for a sculpture of a bowler. The sculpture was considered for the Harris Memorial Garden at Lord's but on completion was erected in the Coronation Garden and later moved to its long-term home at the Nursery End. 2. Rejected Drawings for Sculpture of Bowler By Antony Dufort Commissioned by MCC Sculptor Antony Dufort carried out research for the bowler sculpture by watching videos of bowlers in action. His studies show the follow-through movement at different stages. The final sculpture shows the bowler pitched forward on one foot, the trailing leg raised high. 3.
