Description

Large, white ice bucket or biscuit jar with footed base, two small scalloped handles and a shaped lid with outer upstand and handle formed of two branches with gold top. Aqua green bands to foot and lid. Gold bands on foot, rim and lid, with highlights on handles. Transfer print decoration. Two views of Melbourne Cricket Ground 1877 & 1977. ‘Scene of the first England – Australia Test Match March 1877’ and ‘Scene of the 226th England – Australia Test Match The Centenary Test Match March 1977’ Supported by gold lion and kangaroo , rampant. Red, white and blue striped MCC flag under each handle. Dates on lid, plus ‘Presented to Marylebone Cricket Club the Melbourne Cricket Club to Commemorate the Centenary of Test Cricket’. Maker’s mark inside lid and printed on base
