Lot 320: Willie Watson. Yorkshire, Leicestershire & England 1939-1964. M.C.C. navy blue cloth cricket cap worn by Watson whilst playing for the M.C.C.. The cap, by Simpson of Piccadilly, with embroidered 'M.C.C.' emblem in white. Signed by Watson to inner label. G Estimate: £100/150 Hammer price: £80 Watson played 283 matches for Yorkshire, 117 matches for Leicestershire and was selected on twenty three occasions to play for England. He scored over 25,000 first class runs with an average of 39.86 and a highest score of 257 which he scored for M.C.C. against British Guiana on the M.C.C. 1953/54 tour. A noted footballer he played at left half for Huddersfield Town, Sunderland and Halifax and gained four caps for England. One of the few 'Double Internationals'
