Description

Maroon, melton wool, English style, Northamptonshire county 1st XI cap. Motif: Embroidered to front panel. Gold, padded, five-petal, barbed rose. Lining: Black. Maker’s label, with 'D. Brookes' printed on and blank name label with size.

Dennis Brookes. Northamptonshire & England 1934-1959. Northamptonshire maroon county 1st XI cricket cap with county emblem embroidered to front. Also a mono photograph of Brookes signed in ink by Brookes. Window mounted with title panel, framed and glazed, overall 24.5"x19.25". The cap is believed to have been previously sold by Knights in 2007. VG. Estimate: £120/160 Hammer price: £120 Brookes captained Northamptonshire 1954 to 1957, and made six double centuries during his career. His only M.C.C. tour, to West Indies 1947/48 was curtailed due to injury.
