Description

Left hand, Stuart Surridge, batting glove worn by David Sheppard. Signed on index finger. White leather, with padded vinyl fingers. Palms perforated. Elastic at wrist with press stud fastening. David Stuart Sheppard, Cambridge University, Sussex & England 1947-1963. David Sheppard captained Sussex during the 1950's and made over 15,000 first class runs with 45 centuries and played for England on twenty two occasions with three centuries. These items were obtained by David Wells from David Sheppard some years ago and were sold by Knights in 2000.

A pair of Stuart Surridge batting gloves worn by David Sheppard, each glove signed by Sheppard, a 'Grasshopper Sports' thigh pad and two pairs of 'Simpson of Piccadilly' cream white flannel cricket trousers with 'Gripu' waistband. One marked to inner 'D.S. Sheppard'. Good condition. Previously sold by Knights in April 2000, lot 744.
