5.4 Modern gloves have much more protection for the back of the hand, inbuilt ventilation and towelling sweat bands. Like modern pads they have elasticated cuffs and Velcrotm fastening for easy use. At Lord’s players have only two minutes to get from the dressing rooms to the field of play, so speedy padding-up and dressing is essential. M.2015.988 Batting Gloves of Michael Clarke, Spartan, 2015. These gloves were worn by Clarke, at Lord’s, during his last Test as Australia captain. Clarke is known to change his gloves frequently, hence their almost pristine condition. This is in stark contrast to Jack Russell who, even as a top level wicketkeeper, clung to his favourite gloves and hat.
