Clock description:
The ex-Cambridge University Cricket Club Fenner's Pavilion Clock, circa 1875,
single chain fusee movement by Munsey of Cambridge, the carved oak case with University arms to a cartouche within the arched top surmounted by three finials, with twin pilasters flanking the dial having matted gilt centre, silvered chapter ring and seconds dial, pierced hands, signed 'Munsey Cambridge' to a shaped plate, brass bezel to the top hinged glazed door, all with substantial rectangular plate movement, 76cm (30in) wide, 131cm (51.5in) high
Condition:
Movement appears to be original but in need of attention as the pendulum spring does not appear to be fully operational; the second and minute hands do work in unison when manually turned. Later braces have been fitted to support the mechanism.
The case is age-worn with some losses to the sides (please see images). The top finial is loose. Pendulum and a key present (key is not original).
There is as such no back to the case as the clock was made to be accommodated within the fabric of the original Pavilion.
