Boots & Shoes
7:1
Everybody likes to wear comfortable shoes whilst working and footwear is the item of kit most modified by cricketers. Note the difference in size between Nicky Boje and Steve Harmison and you can see why every player has a favourite maker or special adaption. Even in these days of corporate sponsorship players will often retain the right to wear the boots of their choosing.
Early boots changed very little from the golden age of W G Grace, on display downstairs, to those purchased during rationing in the post-war period.

The ‘CC’ mark indicates that the item was made during the period of rationing.
The slippery leather sole was mitigated by attaching hob-nails or purpose made spikes.
