Pakistan International Blazer, c.1950
The new nation of Pakistan played its first ‘unofficial’ Test match against the touring West Indies in Lahore in November 1948. It then embarked upon its first overseas cricket tour in March 1949, visiting another newly independent country: Ceylon, now Sri Lanka. Further home series against Ceylon and MCC followed, before Pakistan finally made its official Test debut on a five-Test tour of India in late 1952.
