Spliced cane handle, Straight blade, indistinct swell. Worn toe. Maker’s marks to face and head of handle. . Silver plaque with inscription on reverse. Score card of Lansdowne v the All England XI, 1864 attached to reverse. Lillywhite scored 105

Cricket bat Bat of John Lillywhite Cobbett c.1864 John Lillywhite, brother of Fred and from the same cricketing family which founded the Lillywhite’s sporting goods business, was a leading all-rounder in his day and a member of both touring All-England’ XIs. Later, as an umpire, he staunchly opposed the introduction of over-arm bowling. Purchased, 1952
