Mary Duggan’s astonishing innings figures of 14.5-11-6-7 helped England bowl Australia out for just 38 in the first innings of the second Test at St Kilda in February 1958. A versatile left-arm bowler both of spin and medium-fast swing, Duggan was also a fine middle-order batsman who captained England between 1957 and 1963 without suffering a single defeat.
