The Slips, 2000 Nick Botting (b.1963) Oil on canvas British artist Nick Botting was commissioned in 2000 to document the England tour to Pakistan, covering the first Test at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Traditionally a painter of modern life Botting is known for painting ‘en plein air’, a French term meaning ‘in the open air’ which primarily describes the act of painting outdoors. His sketchy, painterly style perfectly suits the subject of cricket, capturing moments rather than individuals. MCC Collections: Commission, 2000 Object number: TN.2009.2940
