Red facecloth cap with yellow braiding lined with quilted cotton. Design on top of an eight looped decoration and around the sides two rows, all made of yellow coloured braid.
This “pillbox” style cricket cap is among the earliest surviving objects bearing the current MCC colours. Until the 1860s the Club’s colours had been sky blue. Whitby played first class cricket during the 1880s.
