Description

Rectangular ‘monument’ style trophy with curved ‘bookend’ sides, stamped with leaves. Full length, relief, portrait figure of John Widen ‘1826 – 1884’ on face. On the wings stands a 3D figure of a batsman and a bowler. Above Wisden is a set of stumps with a laurel wreath. Plaque below ‘The Wisden Trophy, Wisden 1864 – 1963, This trophy to be competed for between England and West Indies in 1963 and succeeding Test Series, was presented by Wisden’s to commemorate the publication in 1963 of the 100th edition of Wisden’s Cricketers’ Almanack’. Enamelled shields on either side ECB (blue with three, white lions and sovereign’s crown) and West Indies (white with green sea, palm tree, grey island and 10 gold stars). Hallmarked throughout. Plaques on reverse with results.
