Scope and Content
Cassette recording, 'Rod Marsh: Wicket-keeping' produced by Admark Party Limited. The recording consists of a speech by R W Marsh discussing his life in cricket and providing advice on wicket-keeping. The cassette sleeve contains instructions on wicket-keeping stance, how far back to stand from the batsman, and how to stump on the off side.

Side 1, 'Rod Marsh: My Life in Cricket' is 20 minutes 29 seconds long. Marsh talks about his early memories of cricket, playing with his brother and watching his father play for his local cricket club in Armadale and later playing for Armadale Cricket Club, playing cricket at school, learning to keep wicket at school, being selected for the state schoolboys cricket team, playing cricket for West Perth, deciding to select cricket over football, keeping wicket for University of Western Australia, not being selected ahead of Gordon Becker as wicket-keeper for Western Australia until the 1969-1970, making his debut for Western Australia against West Indies as a batsman in 1968 and making a century during the match, keeping wicket for Western Australia in 1969-1970 and making his Test debut for Australia against England in 1970-1971, dropping catches in the early part of his Test career which led to the nickname 'Iron Gloves' by the Australian media, scoring 92 in the fifth Test against England at Melbourne which Marsh believed helped him to continue his Test career, Marsh's increased confidence in his abilities during his career, his pride at representing Australia and his highlights including the Australian tour of England in 1972, his two Test centuries against Pakistan in 1972-1973 and New Zealand in 1973-1974, being selected for the Australian World Cup team in 1975 and winning the Sheffield Shield with Western Australia, and the friendships he has made in cricket.

Side 2, 'Rod Marsh: Wicket Keeping' is 21 minutes 18 seconds long. Marsh discusses aspects of wicket-keeping including wearing equipment such as a abdominal protector and gloves and wearing comfortable clothing and pads which Marsh did not like wearing, the stance of wicket-keepers for different types of bowling, and taking the ball for a catch and using a tennis racket to practice this technique, keeping wicket to fast and slow bowlers, diving to catch a ball bowled by a fast bowler, keeping wicket to spin bowlers and keeping in a crouched position until the ball lands on the wicket, and faults of wicket-keepers including snatching at the ball, not moving feet quickly enough to fast bowlers, making a backward foot movement to slow bowlers, standing up too soon to slow bowlers and not approaching the stumps when there is a run out opportunity. Marsh refers to the diagrams in the cassette sleeve throughout his discussion of wicket-keeping.
