Biography on reverse reads: "Steady opening bat who has shown more promise at Test level than in one-day internationals. Contributed 50 to an opening stand of 157 with the brilliant Jayasuriya in Test against Pakistan. Could be used as sheet-anchor batsman in one-dayers, and his gentle off-spin gives Ranatunga another bowling option.
