Scope and Content
Cigarette card depicting a coloured illustrated head and shoulders portrait of Les Ames. He is wearing a white shirt and blue Kent cap with horse crest on the front. Series No.5.

Biography on reverse reads: "L. E. G. Ames (Kent) Has greatest batting distinction amongst wicket-keepers. Since 1927, when he first played for Kent, has hit over 1,000 runs in each season and in 1933 made over 3,000 runs, Holds wicket-keeping record with 127 victims (79 caught and 48 stumped) in one season. Represented England against Australia, New Zealand, India and West Indies. During 1934 Test Series caught 10 men behind the wicket and conceded only 66 byes during 8 innings. Highest score 295 v. Gloucestershire, at Folkestone, 1933."
