Biography on reverse reads: "E. Hendren (Middlesex) First appearing for Middlesex at the age of 18, Hendren's greatest year was 1928 when he amassed 3,311 runs, including 13 centuries. He has paid three visits to Australia with M.C.C. teams; also visited West Indies (twice) and South Africa. Highest score - 301 not out v. Worcestershire, at Dudley, 1933. Has scored a century against every other county. In 1931 he surpassed W. G. Grace's old record total of 126 centuries. Has also figured in Association Football."
