Scope and Content
Postcard depicting a black and white photographic group portrait of the England Cricket Team vs. South Africa in 1924, twelve players and member of staff are positioned in two rows. All players are wearing cricket whites, six wear MCC touring blazers with St. George and dragon crest on breast pocket and striped trim, one wears a Lancashire blazer with red rose crest on breast pocket, one wears a Sussex blazer with martlet crest on breast pocket, two wear light or cream coloured blazers, two blazer crests are obscured. One wears a v-neck cableknit sweater with double-striped trim, two wear MCC touring caps with St. George and dragon crest on the front, one wears a Lancashire cap with red rose crest on the front, one wears a Yorkshire cap with white rose crest on the front, four wear white cravats, two hold pipes and one is smoking a cigarette, two wear pads. The manager wears a three-piece suit and trilby hat. Situated on playing area of Edgbaston Cricket Ground with stand filled with spectators in background.
