Scope and Content
Curator's [Stephen Green] correspondence relating to Frederick Spofforth photograph donated by W Ewart Crook. Subjects include description and provenance of the photograph and Crook's recollections of an RAF medical conducted in the Long Room in 1941. On page 1 paragraph 3 Crook writes, "The last time I was in the Long Room was in 1941 - when as a potential member of air crew RAF - we had a medical. 'Shirts off - arms up - trousers down - FFI [free from infection]'. What desecration for such a hallowed room!"
